Dublin Bus services to be disrupted by unofficial action
22/01/2004 - 07:47:15Dublin Bus services are expected to be disrupted for a number of hours this morning as drivers down tools to attend a mass union meeting.
The company has advised passengers that the unofficial protest could cause "severe" disruption from 9.30am until the early afternoon.
The union meeting was originally organised to coincide with a two-hour stoppage by SIPTU workers at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports this morning. That stoppage was called off yesterday, but SIPTU’s Dublin Bus branch decided to press ahead with today’s meeting regardless.
The meeting does not have the approval of senior SIPTU officials and Dublin Bus has vowed to deduct wages from any drivers who attend while rostered for duty.
